The Drums
Rockcreek's steel drums are designed to work individually as solo instruments or together as part of an ensemble. Rockcreek offers five types of steel drums for sale as well as two types of steel tank drums:

The Single Guitar Steel Drum

The single guitar steel drum is the drum we start all beginners on at our Rockcreek Steel Drum classes. It is built from a high quality 55 gallon steel drum and has
a 22 inch diameter. It's tonal range is 13 chromatic notes starting at the D above middle C which allows it to be used in any key. It's role is to play melodies in its range and to strum chords. Check out our traveling Steel Drum Experience that uses the single guitar drum>>>.

The Tenor Guitars Steel Drums

The Tenor Guitars' two octave range starting on middle C covers the entire treble clef. In the ensemble the tenor guitars' main job is that of melody an soloing. The tenor guitars have a bright tone to help the melody be heard in the ensemble.

The Double Guitars Steel Drums

The Double Guitars are used to play lower ranged chords and melodies. They have an 18 note range that starts on the G below middle C and are used to fill the mid-range tones in an ensemble.

The Bass Guitar Steel Drums

The Bass Guitar drums are used to play bass lines as well as providing lower pitched chording and melodies in the ensemble. They are built from four high quality 55 gallon steel barrels and have a 28 note range starting at the C one octave below middle C.

Rockcreek Tank Drums
Rockcreek is proud to offer its new line of tank drums built from high quality steel tanks. These drums produce a beautiful tone with long sustain. The note layouts are based on those from our steel drum ensemble. We offer a single tank drum and a double tank drum.

Single Tank Drum

Rockcreek's single tank drum has eight notes covering one octave in the key of C major starting at middle C. C D E F G A B C . These drums are a cross between steel drums, wooden tongue drums and kalimbas. They have a soft, beautiful tone.

Double Tank Drum

Rockcreek's double tank drum has an 18 note chromatic range covering the entire treble clef. They can play in any key. The note pattern is similar to the Double Tenor Guitar steel drum, which makes it easy to add this instrument to your performances. A very unique instrument.
